When the SIIA comes calling (in the form of a software audit letter)
IntroductionI recently reviewed a letter from the powerhouse bay area intellectual property law firm of Donahue Fitzgerald, LLP. We have dealt with this firm and their copyright lawyers many many times. The letter demanded a response to a audit purportedly being brought (or at least sanctioned by) the companies listed below by and through the SIIA (Software Information Industry Association) a trade group for many digital companies.
When you get a letter like this, before you throw it away contact us to discuss the pros and cons. What you don't want to do is overlook these letters and then find out your company has been sued.
